MEBANE’S HOOD CLEANING SPECIALISTS
Full-System Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning That Meets NFPA 96
Serving Mebane, Alamance County and surrounding communities& the entire Mebane area
What’s Included in Every Hood Cleaning Service
Canopy, filters, plenum, horizontal duct and rooftop fan on every visit, degreased and photographed at each opening so the record can go straight to a property manager without a follow-up.
Two Counties, One Fire Marshal
Mebane sits across the Alamance–Orange county line, and that split catches operators out because the two sides of compliance follow different boundaries. Fire code follows the city limits: the City of Mebane Fire Marshal’s Office at 1469 Mebane Oaks Road is the authority across the whole city, enforcing the North Carolina Fire Code and reviewing plans for new construction and upfits, whichever county a building sits in.
Health permitting follows the county line instead. North Carolina runs environmental health at county level, so most Mebane kitchens are inspected by Alamance County from Martin Street in Burlington — but an address in the eastern slivers of town falls to Orange County. A Mebane restaurant can be a Mebane fire-code job and an Orange County health-permit job at the same time. If you are not certain which side you are on, the health department is the one to call.
Grease: Mebane Publishes Real Numbers
The city runs its own pretreatment programme out of the Water Resource Recovery Facility on Corregidor Street, and unlike most towns in the region it publishes hard requirements. Grease interceptors must be serviced and emptied as needed to maintain effective volume and not less than once every 90 days. A written maintenance record has to stay on file at the facility for a minimum of three years. Pump tickets go to the wastewater plant director showing the hauler and the disposal location. The minimum interceptor is 1,000 gallons.
Those are the numbers an inspector will hold you to, and they are separate from anything NFPA 96 asks of your exhaust system. We handle the hood side and leave you a file that stands up on both.
Proof of Compliance After Every Visit
After every service you keep digital photographs, a dated report and the service tag on the hood — what the Mebane Fire Marshal’s Office and your landlord both want to see — so there is nothing to dig up when an inspector arrives.
How Often NFPA 96 Requires Cleaning
Cooking volume sets the interval rather than a date in the diary. Table 11.4 sets how often the system must be inspected, based on the type and volume of cooking, and the system must be cleaned whenever that inspection finds grease deposits:
- Solid fuel cooking: inspect monthly
- High-volume operations — 24-hour kitchens, charbroiling, wok cooking: inspect quarterly
- Moderate-volume operations: inspect semi-annually
- Low-volume operations — churches, day camps, seasonal and senior centers: inspect annually
What an inspector opens is the duct run and the fan housing. That is where we work, and where the photographs come from.
